Combination Therapy Promising to Fight Cancer

A new study suggests the drug can be attached to cancer cells. Then the drug is activated by exposure to certain wavelengths of light. The results of these studies have been published in Nature Medicine. The treatment method can only be targeted at cancer cells only and does not damage surrounding tissue. A foundation that cancer is a promising treatment method can be effectively used as a cancer treatment.

Currently, treatment for cancer can be divided into 3 categories, such as blasting with radiation, tumor removal or use of drugs to kill cancer cells. All have side effects and the scientists are trying to find a more effective therapy and precise. In this study, researchers from the National Cancer Institute, Maryland using an antibody targeted to the protein on the surface of cancer cells. Antibody is accompanied by chemical IR700, and activated with infrared light.

To test the combination of antibodies and chemicals, the researchers embed the tumor and squamous cell carcinoma on the backs of mice. The mice were given the drug and given exposure to infrared light. The results showed that tumor volume decreased or shrunk significantly compared with control group mice. Advantage of this method of treatment is to be selective, and does not harm the surrounding healthy tissue.

The researchers say that a combination treatment consisting of therapeutic and diagnostic agents may hold promise for future cancer treatment. Although researchers have also been observed when toxicity studies, but these results still require a formal toxicity studies. " Dr. Laura McCallum, from Cancer Research UK Science also says that the results of these studies are very promising for use as a cancer treatment.

"The use of antibodies or photodynamic therapy to specifically target the cancer cells have been successfully to treat some types of cancer. So combining these two therapies can be effectively used as a treatment of cancer cells. However, because this study only been tested in mice, it is necessary to conducted a clinical study to determine the effects of such treatment in humans, "said Dr. McCallum.

Chlorine Boost Your Memory

Chlorine is found in many foods such as fish, eggs, liver, chicken, milk and certain legumes such as soybeans and red beans. People who consume a lot of chlorine in the food will get a score better on memory tests. This conclusion is obtained researchers from Boston University School of Medicine is evaluating the data from the study of cardiovascular health of nearly 1,400 adults aged 36-83 years.

Participants were given food questionnaires from 1991 to 1995. Then in 1998 and 2001, participants underwent tests of memory and other cognitive abilities, the participants also underwent MRI brain scan procedure. The study found that men and women that a lot of chlorine intake scored better on memory tests than those in a bit to eat foods that contain chlorine.

These findings suggest that people with a lower intake of chlorine is more likely to experience mental decline than that gets a lot more chlorine intake. In addition, people with high intake of chlorine is less likely to show a white area on the MRI scan of his brain. The area is considered a sign of vascular disease in the brain that could be a sign of increased risk of stroke or dementia.

"These findings add to evidence that the food you eat can affect how long the brain function," said senior researcher Rhoda Au, from Boston University School of Medicine. Nevertheless, it does not mean that chlorine is the answer to ward off Alzheimer's, a disease that steals memory 26 million people around the world.

Numerous studies have found links between diet and risk of Alzheimer's. Some experts suggest a Mediterranean-style diet may protect brain function. Mediterranean-style diet consisting of foods rich in fish, vegetables and fruits, whole grains and unsaturated fats like olive oil.

However they were not meant to prove that chlorine directly protect against changes in the brain memory is not healthy. One possibility is that there are several other nutrients with chlorine is a bigger role.

Nutrition is the fuel the brain chemical acetylcholine, a chemical that deliver electrical signals in the brain and plays an important role in the functioning of memory and other mental functions. Low levels of acetylcholine associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Experts recommend that men should get the intake of 550 milligrams of chlorine per day, while women senbaiknya got 425 milligrams per day intake.

Drink When Eating Can Digestive System Work Inhibition

Not a few people who drink on the sidelines because they can chew the food easier to swallow food. Though menengak water while eating can prevent stomach and digestive power causes an increase in insulin that can bind more fat. "Most people drink water while eating. Theory fall to make the food more quickly. But those people do not know how wrong this practice and how their digestive systems are very difficult," says Shonali Sabherwal, macrobiotic counselor from India ..

Shonali explains, drinking water while eating can block the digestive system and cause increased insulin significantly. For people who suffer from digestive problems, the consequences can even vary."Our stomach has the ability to know when you will eat and immediately begin to release digestive juices. If you start drinking water at the same time, all you do is scrape the digestive juices that are released to digest food, so akkhirnya inhibit digestive system works," continued Shonali.
Who drink water while eating will be absorbed by the stomach wall. This absorption will continue to happen until the digestive juices are concentrated enough to begin digesting food. "But then, because digestive juices mixed with water, the concentration of substance now becomes thicker than the content of the food in the stomach. It causes fewer gastric fluid to be secreted to digest the food. As a result, the food is not digested will enter into the system because will be absorbed by the stomach wall. This will cause acid reflux and heart burn (heat sensation in the chest), "said Shonali.

Drinking while eating also can cause elevated levels of insulin. The more insulin is released in the bloodstream, the more likely the body to store fat. To avoid a lot to drink while eating, Shonali give some advice, among others, do not eat too salty or thirsty and that can make a lot, and do not eat in a hurry.Research shows that drinking a little water during the meal is not a big concern, but drinking a glass or two more glasses of water can interfere with digestion. "The best thing is to drink water before and approximately two hours after a meal because it helps in the absorption of nutrients," said the researchers.

Sweating is the body's natural mechanism to regulate the temperature increases as we move or heat. "The sweat that comes out will help the body get rid of heat, so we will not be too hot," said Adam Friedman, dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons of Montefiore Medical Center, USA.

Because of the importance of the function of sweat, so if we can not sweat would endanger lives. "There is a condition called ectodermal dysplasia, which makes a person can not sweat," says Joel Schlessinger, a dermatologist. People who suffer from ectodermal dysplasia conditions are prohibited because they would exercise that heat can be bad for the heart and other body functions. So, give thanks to sweat.

2. Brighten the face
The sweat running down his face, not only cools the body but also affects the facial skin clean. According to Schlesinger, the sweat on the face will reduce the dirt that clog pores. It will also prevent acne.

4. Against infection
Sweating was very effective against the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus which is resistant to antibiotics. In addition to sweat will also be reducing harmful bacteria and fungi on the skin.According to Friedman, in the sweat fluid contained nitrite, which is converted into nitric acid when it reaches the surface of the skin, gas-containing antibacterial and antifungal. "Sweat also contains a natural antibiotic called Dermicidin that can kill bacteria," he said.

5. Remove toxins
Research shows sweat contains various components, including toxic metal in small quantities. Because of that sweating is often referred to as detoksikan. With the number to 5 million sweat glands in human skin, do not be surprised if the sweating is a mechanism for removing toxins from the body."Toxins are discharged through sweat is toxins that are normally far below the skin. They come out through the pores along with dust and oil are trapped. This process will enhance the immune system and helps the body fight the flu," said Rogers.

6. Cure

Did You Know That Lonely Make Death Quickly ?

Loneliness can be bad for your health. Loneliness causes a variety of negative effects on the human body. Fortunately, by doing activities and social contacts, some of these adverse effects can be eliminated.

John Cacioppo, a psychologist from the University of Chicago who studies the effects of loneliness, presented the latest research in Social Psychology and Perception meeting in San Diego. Cacioppo found that loneliness is associated with hardening of the arteries that lead to high blood pressure, inflammation, and even learning and memory disorders.

"In fact, an isolated fruit flies have poor health and die sooner than fruit flies that interact with other flies. This suggests that social engagement may have been programmed in all species," Cacioppo said.

In one study, Cacioppo, and Steve Cole of UCLA examined how the immune system to change from time to time in people who are socially isolated. They observed changes in genes that affect the immune system of people who are lonely. Genes in lonely individuals were involved in the activation of the immune system and inflammation.

Several genes important in the body is not active in lonely people, eg, genes that are important in the antiviral response and produce antibodies. In essence, the body of a lonely person has been allowed to weaken the body's defense against viruses and other diseases.

The immune system must make a decision between the fight against virus threats and protect the body against bacteria because they have the ability to fight. In the lonely people who see the world as a threatening place, the immune system prefers to focus on the bacteria rather than the threat of viruses.
Without antivirus protection and antibodies, the body's ability to fight cancer and other diseases will also be reduced. People who are socially isolated have higher chances of various diseases causing death, cancer, infection and heart disease.

Loneliness also increases levels of stress hormone cortisol, as well as circulation and blood pressure. One study showed that social isolation can push blood pressure into the danger zone of heart attack and stroke. This condition weakens the circulatory system settings so that the heart muscle work harder and blood vessels were damaged by the pressure of blood flow.

Loneliness can also damage the quality of sleep, making sleep less refreshing, both physically and psychologically. People who are socially isolated more frequently awake at night and have fewer hours of sleep a really good quality.

Cycle created by the condition of loneliness can be a spiral. Another study conducted by Cacioppo found that lonely people tend to judge more negative social interactions and have a bad impression on people who have encountered.

"Just like a physical threat, protecting the body are socially lonely. This lets us know when will the social relations began to stretch and cause the brain to continue to be vigilant against social threats. Being alone can result in negative behaviors, which are very lonely people see others as threats and enable fall more deeply into the lonely, "Cacioppo said.

Loneliness not only makes people unhappy, but it also makes people feel insecure, mentally and physically. Loneliness often experienced by people who feel abandoned for some time, either due to move to another city or starting a school or college in the new place.

Typically, a sense of loneliness subside on its own within six months. To treat people who feel isolated chronic, psychological therapy is needed. Cacioppo and his colleagues found two of the best ways to treat loneliness, social skills training that is needed to see the world in a more positive and do an activity together.
